The recurring failures were resulting in over $43,000 in lost production each month. NTN’s engineering and sales support team performed a thorough evaluation of the line and concluded the double-row shielded angular contact bearings were failing as a result of flaking damage to the internal components. After conducting a complete bearing failure analysis, it was determined the bearings were failing as a result of the application’s heavy loads and grease contamination from frequent washdowns.
