Area Operator

NOTE 3 SHIFT ROTATION REQUIRED – Days, Afternoons, Midnights

NTN Bearing Corporation of Canada Ltd. has two operating divisions in Mississauga (the Distribution Division and the Manufacturing Division). We are looking for an Area Operator at our Manufacturing Division who will be responsible for operating machines and equipment on our various production lines.

This position reports directly to the Shift Supervisor and to the Production Manager.

Job Summary:

To operate production line machines and equipment ensuring maximum line efficiencies and productivity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Start up and shut down all production lines, machines and equipment
  • Monitor all machines and equipment to ensure operational standards, efficiencies and product quality is met
  • Perform minor troubleshooting of machines and equipment such as changing grinding wheels and honing stones
  • Perform quality checks of finished product
  • Pack finished product and stack boxes on skids
  • Cooperate with and assist other team members
  • Maintain production data electronically
  • Communicate pertinent information regarding machine issues and product quality issues to Supervisor, Technicians and other shifts
  • Perform 5S activities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Technical and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical problems
  • Numeracy skills
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Good vision, manual dexterity
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Ability to lift, load and handle various size production parts with average weights of 35 pounds

Education and Professional Experience:

  • Completion of secondary school
  • Post-secondary vocational / technical or trade training an asset
  • Previous work experience with machines, hand tools, power tools an asset
  • Previous machine operator work experience in an industrial manufacturing facility

Compensation:

  • $22.16 starting hourly rate, shift premiums and benefits according to union collective agreement
