NTN's Community Garden Provides Food for Those Most in Need

spirit issue12

NTN Canada's Community Garden has helped grow fresh vegetables which will go toward feeding the less fortunate in the Greater Toronto Community. NTN volunteers were pleased to contribute their time to the maintenance of the community garden in the hopes that they can share plant-based produce with people who are most in need of a healthy meal.

The garden is located at NTN’s headquarters in Mississauga, Ontario and includes a wide range of vegetables from tomatoes to lettuce, peppers, eggplants, squash and green beans. The harvested vegetables will be donated to homeless shelters and used to prepare soups, pastas, salads and other foods that are healthy and fulfilling at the same time.

NTN will make these delicious and nutritious meal options possible for those in need at Haven Toronto and other local shelters that serve the homeless population, many of whom suffer from diabetes, heart disease, and other conditions. The garden will also allow employees to spend time outdoors, learn to grow and harvest herbs and vegetables and to socialize in a pleasant environment.

A big thank you goes out to our employees for volunteering their time to build and maintain the garden’s grounds during the very difficult hot days of our last heat wave. Our garden would not be possible without the support of our hard-working NTN staff. Together we can join the fight against hunger and make a difference to those facing food insecurity.
